Hi. i am looking for family of Dennis Duggan born 1809 in tipperary, he married mary cummins 15/02/1836

i have information on all the female children and one of the sons John who married hanora sadlier. im looking for Patrick Duggan born 07/12/1836, Mathew Duggan born 17/01/1839, Denis Duggan 13/02/1846 and William 16/04/1852. if anyone has any information on these it would be great, i know William erected a headstone in memory of his dad Denis, mother Mary and sister Catherine. His mother Mary died in 1906 so it must have been done some time after this, i think most of them emigrated.

thanks

  • JT, you do not say which parish they were from, or where or in which graveyard you found headstone.

I looked  up all Mary Duggan,s in  Co Tipperary in the 1901 census, there were only a few, so you should be able to find your

ancestor.  Let me know how you get on .

  • Hi Christina

they were buried in new church graveyard near donaskeigh even though they lived in rathnaveen tipperary. i have info on denis duggan and who his father was, i dont know who mary duggan nee cummins father was. its their male children i am looking for. i only know one of them John Duggan who was my great great grandfather. he married Hanora Sadlier from rossmore and they also lived in rathnaveen tipperary, all Denis and Marys daughters either married localy or stayed local. its the sons i cant find anything on. hope this narrows it down. William erected the headstone but the dates he has on it are slightly incorrect so i am gussing he wasnt living in ireland when his parents and sister died. his mother mary died in 1906 so the headstone had to have been erected after this date. i was told his older brother Patrick went to America but no more details, ive nothing on Mathew or Denis. Denis senior had a number of uncle and aunts family members who went to America early 1800's so its a good guess, also mention of someone going to Austraila but not sure who, i have an old photo of a man with two younger men printed in Sydney but no idea who they are.

Also i replied to a post on this site sent 6th april 2014 by someone named CharO who was also replying to a post. i had more in common with CharO on my family tree than the origional post but i was hoping this person may still be following comments, CharO Kokomo USA they had a link to a family tree but is wasnt in use.

    thanks

  • Hi again JT,   found  Mary Duggan aged 80 a widow on the 1901 census, with her son John aged 48 , and his wife Hanora.

www.census.nationalarchives.ie  DED, Soloheadbeg,  Townland Rathnaveen Ormond.

I presume you searched other parishes for marriages for the brothers as they would have married in the parish of the Bride.

With regard to the query  on Ireland reaching out  6th April 2014, do you remember the name on the query, as you can google it

    and find it

Let me know how you get on.
