I am searching for PATRICK DOOLAN Born 1828 +/- Frankford. (now Kilcormac, Baroney of Ballyboy ) Kings County. His occupation from his army records state he was a Servant aged 18.
He Joined The British Army at BIRR in 21st July 1846, 2nd Reg. of Foot.
He served in Ionian Islands. 16th Reg. of foot West Indies, and Canada where he married Margaret CLIFFORD (from Limerick) in Quebec where he was stationed.
He arrived in NZ in the 65th Regiment in 1859 and fought in the Land Wars, and died here in 1887.
I would dearly like to find the names of his parents and any siblings. He named his first child Mary Anne b. Ireland and first son Patrick, cannot find a birth but his baptism was in St.Patricks Cathedral AucklandNZ and he appeared to be about 2 mths old. ( my g.grandfather -I was named after him). can these be the names of his mother and father?
Any help would be appreciated, I have his records in the Military from the enlistment to discharge in NZ. I had hoped that his parents would be named as our soldiers here have them named.
Thank you from New Zealand. Patricia Homan.

RootsIreland gives the following baptism. This Patrick is a little younger than the age you saw in the army records, but he could have lied about his age. I saw some other Patricks in RootsIreland, but they were not in Kilcormac.
Patrick Doolan
Baptism: 01-Jan-1831
Roman Catholic Parish: KILCORMAC
Co. Offaly
Father: Michael Doolan
Mother: B. Molloy
