I am researching my Great Grandfather's family from Laois.

My Great grandfather was Anthony CONROY.  Death certificate states from Maryborough.  B: approx 1853.  He emmigrated to New Zealand in 1874 on the Ship called "Conflict".  He married in New Zealand, to Annie Kavanagh (orignally from Bray, Wicklow, IRE).

Anthony CONROY'S parents are named as John CONROY and Mary ROE.

I have found a Griffith Valuation record (1850-1851) of both named parents above, recorded as lesser's of property on Tea orTay Lane (both have their own property on the Lane, so I am assuming not married at the time of GV).

I note that there are also CONROY families living in #1 Tea Lane in both the 1901 and 1911 census.

I am searching for more details of Anthony's family, and any confirmation that the recors I have found are of this family.

  • My great grandad was John Conroy who lived in Pallas Laois on outskirts of Maryborough. Ballyfin parish. Poss married to Mary Delaney. 2 of his children were Patrick b. 1866 & Michael b.1872. Possibly also Catherine b.1863. Have you done a dna test. It would show if you are related to me Pauline Conroy via Patrick, or to Yvonne Conroy via Michael.
