  • I think these two baptisms are probably your Brady girls - Catholic parish is Drumraney, Co. Westmeath, which is located in the west of the county, the parish also includes some small areas in county Longford. The mother's surname is McArdle - suspect that MacGarrell is a mishearing of this..

Links below to the baptism register images on the (free) National Library Website :

Baptism of Anne Brady 24th October 1858 (*), parents Christy Brady and Ellen McArdle.  (see left page, towards the end)
sponsors (godparents) - Michl. Hughes and Eliza Brady

Baptism of Ellen Brady 22nd October 1860, parents Christy Brady and Ellen McArdle (left page, about half way down)
      sponsors -  ... & Cath. Brady

RootsIreland have transcription of a probable marriage as Christopher Brady & Ellen McGarrell listed on the 20th January 1858 in 'Tang' parish, which was the name of a Chapel which at one time was also in Drumraney parish. I had a look at the marriage register for Drumraney, but have not found the record... The witnesses to the marriage are Edward Longworth and Catherine Murtagh.

    * exact date for Anne is unclear - between the 24th October and 5th November

  • Dear Shane, thanks very very much for that information, it means a lot for us, the Bradys from Argentina. We´re really happy to know a little bit more about those who left Ireland in the past and came all the way to the Pampas. Hope someday in the future to visit Drumraney and get to know a little bit more about then. I wonder if there´s still living any Brady or McGarrell (McArdle) around the area? So if you think there´s someone should i contact to continue this investigation or have any further information please do not hesitate in contact me. Thanks again a lot!! J. F. Brady.
