I am looking for any relatives of Martin Burke or Bridget O'Quigley married in Tulla February 1847.  They are recorded on the marriage record in Grafton, Wisconsin (near Milwaukee, WI, USA) for their son, James Burke.  Relatives of the Mahoneys (Spelling varies) and/or Mahegans from Bandon or Innishannon, Cork.  Martin and Bridget immigrated to England I believe.

  • Smurfy,

By Tulla, are you referring to Tulla, Co. Clare? If so, there is a marriage record on the clarelibrary.ie for a James Burke and Bridget Quigley from Tulla on 16 Feb 1847. I know you said that Martin was James' father's name, but could that be an error in his marriage record given that he named his first son James? I looked for James' baptism record on that same library site, but found no children to a Martin or James and Bridget Quigley there. You mention that they moved to England, maybe they left Clare as well before James was born. One last item, if this is your family, one of the marriage witnesses was Patrick Quigly.

    Regards.

  • Smurfy,

As for a possible relative (maybe Uncle or father) of your Martin Burke, I would take a look at James Burke and wife Winny Taylor. They were living in the Ogonnelloe Parish in Rahena in Co. Clare in the 1820's and 1830's.

The Tulla Parish, Ennis Parish, and the Ogonnelloe Parish all had plenty of Quigley's in the 1800's.
