I am looking for information on my third Great Grandfather, Thomas Brett, including the names, dates, and locations of his parents and siblings all believed to be from County Mayo. Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Your search for records will be impacted by the availability of RC records for Kilbeagh/Charlestown parish. Baptismal records start in 1847 and marriages in 1844. I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not see any marriages records for the children in Kilbeagh RC parish.
You may want to join the Mayo Genealogy Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/clansofmayo/ I'm sure there have been postings on Bretts at sometime in the past.

TM: I am also a descendant of the Mayo/ Sligo Brett family. My great grandfather Thomas Brett was born in Rhode Island and eventually emigrated to Philadelphia, PA as a young man. Ancestry.com DNA tests match me to other descendants from the Killasser, County Mayo region (not far from Charlestown). The person who figures. prominently in the match is Patrick Joseph Brett (1825-1907) of dromagh, Killasser, Mayo. His father, John Brett, emigrated to Mayo from Sligo. He is found in the Griffith's valuation of 1852, but not in the Tithe applotments of Killasser in1828. My great grandfather's death certificate lists his father as Michael Brett. From what I can gather, John and Michael Brett emigrated through Rhode Island about 1850. Do you have any knowledge if the John Brett who died in Cambria, PA. ever lived in Rhode Island? It appears from some search appeals, that John lost track of his brother Michael.I suspect that if there is a connection, it would be through the John Brett who was father to Patrick Joseph Brett. He had other children, Thomas, William, John, Catherine and Mary, all born between 1820-1835. I hope this shines light on your investigation. Bob Brett
