We are trying to trace the ancestors of Catherine Brecken who married a George Coughlin. We think they came from Athlone. Their daughter Catherine Coughlin was born in circa 1856 in Ireland and subsequently lived in Liverpool, as did their son Patrick Coughlin
Does anyone have any information on them?
1. Catherine (who might be bracken) Coughlin is 1818. We have no dates for her husband George Coughlin because only find his name listed on his childrens marriage certificates with no other info except occupation, but we suspect he died fairly young eg around age 50.
2. Catherine and George had two children we know of:
Catherine Coughlin
Patrick Coughlin (married Ann gaskin) birth about 1863
We can trace Catherine the younger and Patrick Coughlin's family as we are direct descendants, but her parents ancestry is more challenging.

Viv: I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland. I found two possible records in Co. Westmeath which possible is for your family but the maiden name of Catherine was not Bracken in these two records. I did not find any baptismal records for the father in Co.Westmeath Catherine Coghlan baptized June 11 1854 St. Mary's Athlone father George Coghlan mother Catherine Lurans? Family lived Pains Lane? Patrick Coghlan baptized March 16 1862 Moate father George Coghlan mother Catherine Lulam? No location shown. Roger McDonnell
