When I was about 6 years old we stayed with my mom's cousins in Co. Cavan. They were mostly in the Virginia area at the time.   Years later they came to visit us in Texas USA. My uncles have kept in touch with them over the years, but there hasn't been any contact for about 10 years.  I would love to reconnect with them. I imagine some have passed on. When I was a child, there were other children, older girls. This was about 30 years ago. I have written to them but never got a response. I hope someone somewhere has some information.

Ultimately, I'm looking for information on our family roots and why my Grandparents decided to come to America. Thomas Caffrey and Rose Anne Brady along with Rose's sister Kitty came to America sometime around 1900. It is their family left in Ireland that I'd like to find. I have some names: Frank and Margot McCann; Anna Gallagher; Maive O'Hurley; Tom Brady; Vince and Bernie Brady.

  • Hi Nessa, I live between Bailieborough and Shercock, which is not too far from Virginia.  As you are looking for living people, I would suggest that you would communicate with me directly at ocallaghan.carmel@gmail.com.  When you email me will you give me the name & address that you were writing to and the names of the people and the townlands that you visited, that way I will have names and places at least to work on.

    Regards and Best wishes Carmel
