grancy,
I assume this is your family in the 1911 census? If so, William was a carpenter and joiner, not a solicitor. I note that they had 16 children of which 6 were alive in 1911.
Same family in 1901. Father a carpenter then too:

I looked at Alice Boyd’s birth (15.1.1894 at 3 Violet St). Father was a carpenter then too.
William was a carpenter when he married. His father Hugh was a builder:
Probate abstract from PRONI wills site:
Administration of the Estate of the late William James Boyd, 5 Upper Violet Street, Waterside, Londonderry, Carpenter, who died 26 September 1920, granted at Londonderry 18 April 1921 to William James Boyd, Electrician, the son. Effects: £15 0s 0d.
Mary Ann was still alive at the time of William’s death:
Can’t see any Boyds on the Dungiven Rd in the 1911 census. When do you think they lived there?

Thanks ! The only reason said was a solicitor was the notation on the back of a photo of him, and what he was wearing in the picture , but I guess that could be incorrect. I have lots of into from the census on the Boyds and it was Mary Ann Harrison who married William Boyd. I have not been able to confirm her death date or where she was buried. She is my 2nd great aunt so I am trying to trace any of the Boyd children . It was the Ashe family who lived on Dungiven Rd and I know they all came over to Canada. (direct descendants of mine).
Appreciate the help !

That’s a bit of a change from Boyd in Dungiven Rd to Harrison/Ashe in Dungiven Rd. Not sure how I was supposed to work that out from your original post.
I can’t see Mary Anne Boyd’s death either. Possibly she didn’t die in Derry.
There’s a marriage between Lily Boyd and Joseph Curtis on 12.9.1906. Her father was Wm James Boyd – contractor. That might be your family. Here they are in the 1911 census:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Londonderry/Londonderry_No__5_Urban/Violet_Street_Upper/607342/I see a marriage in Derry for Alice Boyd to Albert Thompson on 20.5.1929. Don’t know if it’s your family. You might want to pay to view it to find out. It’s on the GRONI site.
Here’s the Ashe family in 1901 & 1911. What else do you want to find out about them?

Eliza Ashe’s maiden name was Harrison so I assume she was a sister to Mary Ann Harrison who married Wm Jas Boyd. Eliza married on 26.2.1885 in St Columb’s.
