Hello
I have ancestors that attended the Borrisofarney National School, Co.Tipperary in the 1870s prior to coming to Qld, Australia in the early 1880s. I have seen the school registers on the Tipperary Studies website.
Their surname was Dwan, sometimes written as Dwane, Devane, Divan or Duane. The family were living at Ballinveny, Co. Tipperary.
I have also seen some land Revision records that show a National School was located at Ballinveny near where the family lived. I have a question about these two schools.
Were the school at Ballinveny and the Borrisofarney school the same school?
If not does anyone know where the Borrisofarney National School was located?
Thank you

Ballinveny is a townland stretching up to the townland of Borrisnafarney in North Tipperary. The nearest village is Gortagarry while Monegall ( where President Obama hails from ) , Toomevara and Templemore are approximately six to seven kilometers from here.

Hello Eileen,
Thank you for your response and advice.
The Tipperary Studies Centre has also replied to me today and clarified that the Borrisofarney/Borrisnafarney School was located on the border of the two townlands of Borrisnafarney and Ballinveny.
So my question has been resolved. There was no school in Ballinveny even though the Borrisnafarney school was actually located on land just inside the boundary of both townlands.
Regards
Michael
