Hello, I would like to find out what happened to the Blakley family. Father was John Blakley,, born 1885 to Daniel and Jane. I can find him in the 1901/1911 census, his marriage cert, birth cert. Mother was Maggie nee Telford born 1880 to Thomas and Agnes Telford. I have her birth cert, 1901/1911 census enteries and marriage cert. John and Maggie married 1915 and had four children. Agnes born 1915, Thomas born 1916, Daniel born 1917, and John born 1919.All born in Antrim. John snr was from Mucklemore, and Maggie from Moyaden area. I can't really seem to find out anything after the birth of the children. I think I have found Daniel in USA. Any info on the family would be appreciated. Both John and his father were stone masons. In different enteries sometimes the surname Blakley is spelt differently. Many thanks.

  • Gail,

Possible marriage for Thomas Telford and Agnes Smith 12.11.1881 in Kilbride Church of Ireland:

    https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1881/11014/8027255.pdf

You’ll find the marriage of Daniel Blackley (note spelling) and Jane Dobson at Connor Presbyterian, on 29.9.1883 on the same site.

Likely deaths for Daniel Blakely 1.12.1939 aged 79, and for Jane on 30.1.1938 aged 75.  Both registered in Antrim. You can view the original certificates on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

    https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2.50 (sterling) to a view a certificate.

You can use that same site to search for possible marriages for John & Maggie’s children. The on-line marriage records go up to 1945. For records after that you need to go into PRONI or GRONI in Belfast. Birth records within the past 100 years, marriages within 75 and deaths within 50, in what is now Northern Ireland, are not on-line. They are open to the public just not on-line. You need to go to PRONI or GRONI to view the records within the closed period. (Or get someone else to do that for you). So John & Maggie may have had more children after 1919 but you’ll need to go to PRONI to find out.

I looked for a will for Daniel (died 1939) but he doesn't appear to have left one, or not one that required probate anyway.
