Looking for help to locate the Barnett family in Longford County. I don’t have a lot to go on. James Barnett born Jan 1825 according to US census, arrived in US in 1844. His sister, Margaret, born May 1831, married in Washington DC, US, in 1849.
The only piece of information tying them to Longford county is a line in Find a Grave.
I am unsure how to proceed getting past this brick wall. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Eric:
Do you know if your ancestors were Church of Ireland or Roman Catholic? There are very few Barnett baptismal records for Co. Longford on the subscription site Roots Ireland and no James or Margaret records? Is it possible that the surname was Barrett in Ireland? There are a more of Barrett records in Longford although no James and the only Margaret was an 1837 baptismal record.
Have you taken a general DNA test?

If you haven't done so, examine all of James's and Margaret's records in the U.S. Do their marriage or death records or obituaries give their parents' names and/or their place of birth in Longford? Do James's or Margaret's children's vital and church records give the parental birthplace? Also, probate records sometimes mention individuals in Ireland.
Just a few ideas. Good luck.
