Advice on finding David Fitzgerald

I would suggest that you look for David's death record to see if parents names are listed. There are many David Fitzgerald baptismal records in Co. Waterford on the subscription site Roots Ireland biut we would need to know parents names to confirm any of the records.

Have you considered DNA testing?

Thank you so much for the reply. I was afraid that was going to be the advice. We've done everything to find a death record. We can find a headstone, but no record of death beyond the obituary.

It seems as though this is where our search ends.

Thanks for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.  Do you have a photo of the headstone?  If so, can you post it?  Where is the headstone?  That may give you further information about David and his family.

We're basing it on the attached death notice, which contains elements that match the obituary previously shared. It's a flimsy connection, to be sure. 

Some of the details match a letter my paternal grandmother wrote about my grandfather's grandfather, (David) and some details match what we think we know about David's wife (either Rose or Rosette McFarlan, McFarland, or Farlan). We're attempting to locate a marriage certificate to see if maybe their parents are listed.
