Dear billlee:
Thank you for your post.
There is a database available on the National Archives of Ireland website which you may want to view:

I did find the convict record that referred to Michael Lee as being tried in Galway in 1849. I also have a clip from the Galway Vindicator and Connaught Advertiser from 22 March 1848 that mentions a Michael Lee who stole from Molloy in Headford. The Headford area might be a good place to begin to look for any Lee family. The variant name for Headford is Killursa and looking at other parishes close by may also help. The link for Killursa parish registers is below:

If you have any further information that you would like to share, please do so on this thread.
Kind regards,
Jane

Hello Jane Halloran Ryan
Thank you for your response. I have progressed my search a little and found records that he may have been born Salt Hill, Rahoon, Galway, Ireland. Can you suggest a researcher that I could employ to assist on the ireland end to help me with my search.

Dear Bill Lee,
I just read your post. I also have Lee immigrant ancestors from the Headford, Galway area. The father's name was Daniel Lee (born about 1810), and his children were named John, Peter, James, Martin, and Catherine. I'm afraid there aren't any records available to help make a connection between your Lee family and mine.
