Winifred shows up on the 1841 census in England with a husband, John Uttley and a son, Thomas Uttley who she lists as born in Ballinasloe the same as herself. I can find no trace of any records for Winifred in Ireland and can only find her on the census records in England up until her death in England in 1921. John was a weaver, born in England according to censuses.
My great great grandmother, Anne (also listed as Annie and Anorah on censuses) is listed as born in Ballinasloe around 1853 and I cannot find any of the family in a UK census for 1851 so they may have been back in Ireland.
There is a relative, Mary Burns, on the census with them in 1861 - also listed as born in Irleand so maybe they brought her to England with them if they did return in the 1850s.
I can find no baptism records for any of their children born in Ireland or England, except their last born child in the 1860s and she was baptised in a church of England but I do not know what faith Winifred was.
I aware of the problems finding Irish records but I was reading about Ballinasloe and that the parish priest kept records of baptisms from 1761. My last hope was to write to the churches in Ballinasloe as some records just may not exist or may not have been digitised yet. I have been searching on and off for around 20 years and I would just like to know if Winifred did have Irish heritage.
There is a suggested marriage date for Winifred and her husband John Uttley for 1835 but I have no idea how this date was suggested and I can find no trace of any record in the UK or the US or Canada.
This website was suggested to me and I would be grateful for any help.
