I believe this to be my great, great Grandmother. She was born to Patrick and Bridget Deveny "around the time of the Big Wind" as she related. The eldest of three children, the second child was Bridget and was born in Ireland,1847 and the youngest child was Mary, born oct, 1850 while they were in Liverpool. The family left Ireland for England, lived in Liverpool, then migrated to the United States aboard the 'Sandusky', landing in New York in 1851. Bridget and the three girls went ahead, Patrick stayed behind to work and then migrated in 1852 aboard the 'Typhoon'. The family then moved west, settled at Hudson, St. Croix County, Wisconsin, eventually moved to Troy Township where Patrick died in 1885. He is buried in the Catholic Church cemetery there, but I do not know that his wife is as well. Before settling down in Hudson, Winfreda met my ggGrandfather, Maxime Thibado and they were married somewhere near that town but settled in Dunn County, Wisconsin where she died on December 24, 1920. Bridget (daughter) married a McGinty, they lived and died in River Falls, Wisconsin. Mary married a Dragger, had 3 children, but I do not know what happened to her after they were in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Since my great great great grandparents (Deveny) were illiterate, there is no written history to follow. Winifred didn't seem to get along with her parents at all and there is no history passed down from her or her sisters that I am aware of. The birthdate and name in this posting is the closest I have ever come to possibly finding where they came from and any information I can get would be wonderful to have. I cannot even atest to the spelling of Deveny as it changes by the document. Maxime came from Canada through Detroit so there is no connection there. Any help would be gretly appreciated.
