My great-grandfather and namesake, photographed with my great-grandmother.
William Smith was apparently born in Grenagh or Derry in Cork County in either 1863 or 1865 (I have found no proof as to which year). Little is known about him until he moved to Glasgow, Scotland and married Catherine Madden Tallan in July 1899. His parents were Michael and Margaret Smith (nee Killochan). They resided in Shettleston, Glasgow with their five children until 1920, when they moved to Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and subsequently relocated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
