William Henry Elliott : Short Biography

William Henry 'Bill' Elliott was born on 23 Nov 1836 in Belfast, according to his death registration. Family lore has it that he was brought to Ontario, Canada by the Allen family when he was about two year old. On 10 Nov 1854, William - a very skilled mason by trade - and Jane Thompson 1835-c1894 were married by Thomas Creen, rector of St Mark's Anglican Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. After Jane died, William married Mary Elizabeth Coleman 1851-1925 on 21 Jan 1896 in Niagara. Tragically, William died twelve years later, age 72, in a "fire that destroyed his house". His remains were buried in St Andrew's Presbyterian Church cemetery where he was sexton for many years.
