William Evans was born in Wicklow County Ireland on Aug 8 1827 was the seventh in a family of ten children. At an early age his family immigrated to Canada settling Middlesex County near Toronto. At about 20 years of age William left Canada settling first in Minnesota and later moving to Wisconsin. It was here he joined the American Civil War enlisting as a Corporal.
