b. abt 1742, Virginia
m. Ann Buckner
Children: Elizabeth, Judith, Mary Polly, Nancy, Sarah, William Carmichael (b in S Carolina), Catlett
William’s father William Conner/Connor was born in 1711 in King William, VA, and married Sarah Rogers. He was an ensign in the Virginia Militia 1780 to 1781 in Col. John Gibson’s detachment.
Cambridge, where William Conner and Mary Savage were married, was the name of the town that had previously been called Ninety-Six, which was in the Ninety-Six District in the Colony of South Carolina … There is an article in the 1963 Pilgrimage Edition of the Natchez (Miss.) Democrat about the home Monteigne, which belonged to William and Mary's granddaughter Margaret Dunlop Conner, the daughter of William C. Conner and his wife Jane. The article says of Margaret: "She was a descendant of the Conners of Innisvale, Ireland, (Innisfail - this ends up being a name of a descendant family home) one of whom, William Conner, came to settle here [in Natchez] in 1791." The William Conner referred to is this William Conner. Don't know if he settled in Natchez in 1791, since he was married to Polly in 1797 in South Carolina.
When WILLIAM CONNER was born around 1742 in Pittsylvania, Virginia, his father, William, was 31 and his mother, Sarah, was 27. He married ANN AYLETT BUCKNER in 1768 in Virginia. They had seven children during their marriage. He died on April 25, 1832, in Caroline, Virginia, at the impressive age of 90.
Note: Have no idea what county he's from so guessed below.
