William, my great grandfather, immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1847.
He was with his parents, William and Margery (Morrison) and five siblings – Robert (b1823), John Forbes (1827), Margaret (b1831), Sarah (b1835) and Marjorie (b1843). His father died of ship’s fever within 2 weeks of their arrival.
Margery and her family spent 3 years in the Toronto Gore area, where some of her family had settled, and then, in 1850, they moved to Wellington County. They married, had children and established homes/farms there.
William and his older brother Robert were there for about 30 years when around 1880, they decided to move to northern Ontario (Algoma District) where they remained until their deaths.
