Thomas Stinson was born in circa 1794. He living with his wife, Ellen McNally in the Griffith's Evaluation, in Ballymurphy (Shankill) as a tenent to the property owned by James Ross. Some family rearchers are convinced that Ellen was Thomas' second wife, his first being Elizabeth McQuillen. I can find nothing to prove that fact one way or the other. They were Catholic to the best of our knowledge and had quite a few children: Bridget b. 1823, John b 1824, William b 1826, Ellen b 1834, Isabelle b 1832, Thomas b 1837, Robert b 1839. There is spectulation that there are 2 additional children, Patrick and James, but again no proof. William is my direct ancestor; he emigrated with the rest of the family to America prior to the 1850 US Census. He then married Suzanna O'Neill.
