Thomas Murphy born circa 1740 in or around Omagh, died in 1809 (buried in Comber, near Belfast) had three sons who left Omagh in 1788 for America.
One of those sons, John Murphy, born in 1760 in Omagh, died in 1834 in Pennsylvania, is my ancestor.
I'm looking for any information about the Murphy family in Omagh and any historical context about why the sons may have left Ireland at that time.
