My great grandfather immigrated to Chicago, IL from Mayo in about 1865. I have been told he was from Newport area in Mayo. He married Mary Kearney who was also from Mayo. They had 6 children of which four lived to adulthood. Their names are Bridget, Patrick Joseph, John Francis, and Thomas Aloysius (my maternal grandfather). Mary Ellen and another child died young.
Thomas's father was named Patrick. I do not have any information concerning his mother. He had a brother named Patrick who also immigrated to Chicago. I don't know if there were any other siblings. Mary Kearney's parents were Harry Kearney and Mary Rabbit. She had a brother named Harry and maybe another brother named Michael.
I think Thomas was born April 1840. He died in Chicago in 1901. His wife, Mary Kearney was born in May 1845 and died 7 Jan 1913.
I am looking for any civil records or church records (Roman Catholic) that will verify this information.
