Notes from my grandmother: Captain Thomas Blake of Somerset, England and Galway, Ireland. The immigrant ancestor who signed himself of “the town of Galway, in the Kingdom of Ireland.” Came into the province of Maryland and settled in Calvert County. (Seen commentary that he may have been in Barbados and Virginia first.) He had been given a grant of land in 1657. His estate “Brillings Right” was on the east side of the Patuxent River. M. 1st Jane Webb (widow of Robert Webb of Calvert Co.), m 2nd Jane Sutton. Children: Thomas, Joseph and Richard (sea captain who disappeared in West Indies). Served as High Sheriff of Calvert Co. 1700-1702. Died 1702.
