Patrick Joseph was the son of James Regan and Anna Regan. We believe him to be from Currinah, which is now in Roscommon.

He married Mary Barrett, daughter of John Barrett and Mary Crimmins 27 Jun 1879 in Madison County, Iowa, USA. We get the names of their parents from the 1925 Iowa State Census page 2 which asks the person being ennumerated for the names of his or her parents. Mary Ellen was born in Canada, her parents were both born in Ireland, we do not know if they emigrated to Canada separately or together. Patrick left Ireland for England in mid-late 1860s. He arrived in the United States 1870/1871.
Patrick and Mary Ellen raised eleven children to adulthood in central Iowa.
