Nora H. Kenney was born in June 1865 in Lettermullen, Galway, Ireland, the daughter of Barbara Sullivan and John Kenny. She immigrated to Quebec in 1882.
She married James T O'Malley in 1886 in Canada. They had ten children in 21 years. They had their first child, Thomas, in Buffalo NY. Their second child, John, was born in St. Paul Minnesota. Their remaining children were all born in Chicago, Illinois. They were Mary Theresa, Agnes Veronica, Nora I., Kathleen, Grace Helen, William Martin and Eileen Gertrude. By 1910, they had moved to Tacoma, Washington, but also spent a lot of time and possibly lived in Vancouver, British Columbia. She died on April 23, 1942, in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 76.
