Michael Kelly is my 2nd Great Grandfather, he was born on the 28th Sept 1840, Parish of Uibh Laoire(?), Inchigeelagh.
I believe his parents were called William Kelly (1796-1871) & Catherine Mary Cotter (1801-1870). I understand William and Catherine were from Ireland but I don't know exactly where yet, its possible that Catherine was from Kilarney. William and Catherine were married in Inchigeelagh (Roman Catholic) on the 14th June 1820 and they went on to have 6 children (inc. Michael), all born in Inchigeelagh.
- Denis Kelly - (1829-1893), Mary Kelly (1823-), Margaret Kelly (1826-), John Kelly (1833-1893), William Kelly (1836-), Michael Kelly (1840-1912)
- Both John Kelly and William Kelly have a place called 'coolmountain' listed as an additional place of birth (Ancestry.com).
- Michael also has an additional parish referred, that being the 'Parish of Uibh Laoire' but I haven't found out anything about this yet.
Michael's daughter, Mary-Jane (1868-1950) is my great-grandmother - she was born in London.
I'm assuming they had to leave Ireland due to the famine, my assumption purely being based on the alignment of dates :(
