Mary Young Hunter was the wife of my 4 x great grandfather, Nathan Hunter of Randalstown, County Antrim, Ireland (born 1743). Mary was born in County Down in August, 1744 and was the mother of 8 children, among them my 3 x great grandfather, James Hunter, born in Randalstown in 1778. Other children include William (b. 27 SEP 1769), Jane (b. 15 NOV 1773), Nathan (b. 18 JAN 1783), Joseph (b. 8 NOV 1771, Elizabeth b. 25 OCT 1775, George (b.30 SEP 1780), and Mary (b. 1 OCT 1787).
The Hunter family, all seceder Presbyterians, emmigrated to Frog Level (now Prosperity), SC, USA in about 1799 (ship and point of sailing unknown), where they joined a group of earlier settlers which included Mary's older brother James Abram Young (b. 15 AUG 1750, County Down?
Mary died on 1 OCT 1828 in Prosperity, SC.
