William Joseph WRIGHT – Born 31 August 1864 County Down, Belfast Ireland and died in Lexington, MA, USA. William’s father, reportedly a Scot had died when William was age 13. William began working on immigrant ships in 1880’s and immigrated to New York in 1885 on the ship Fairy Bell. He became naturalized U.S. citizen in 1917. On one trip 1890-91 he met Maria(h) O’CALLAGHAN from Fair Hill in Douglas, County Cork, Cork City Ireland. Maria(h) was born there on 9 January 1872. William and Maria(h) married May 1892 and settled in Boston, MA. They had 12 children (William, Armana, Lillian, Harold, Florence, Heilda, Samuel, Thomas, Leslie, Ralph, Howard and Robert). William Joseph died 4 May 1948 and Mariah died 10 March 1940 while living in Lexington, MA. William Joseph reportedly had two brothers. They reportedly departed Belfast in the 1880’s or 90’s, one of them reportedly went to South Africa to work in diamond mining and the other immigrated to Australia. Need further information on the parents, brothers and sisters (?), and previous family lines on William Joseph and Mariah who are my great grandparents.
