Margaret Byrne was born in Shroughmore County Wicklow in June 1877. She had 8 siblings. She worked as a servant in a house called Iveruisk in killiney. until she met and married Martin Murphy in 1910 in Ballybrach. In the 1911 census they are living in Avondale C Wicklow as Martin was a forestor at the school. They moved in 1912 to kilrush Forestry County Clare where their first child was born Thomas Martin Murphy. In 1914 they are back in Avondale where john was born and then in 1917 they are living in Castle Aughrane Ballygar County Galway where Martin was Head Forestor. Their third child Edward was born there. In 1919 Martin died of flu and Margaret in 1920 sold all the furniture ( there is a newspaper cutting with a list of very nice furniture for sale). It is at this time there is a gap and I am not sure where they went. My father Thomas said he went to school in Rathdrum for a while so I am thinking that maybe she went home to her parents.
In 1923 Margaret marries Edward Farrell in Templemore and she is now a midwife. Edward is a good bit younger having been born in 1889 and he was a school Inspector. The lovely thing is I have found quite by chance a women in Templemore who my grandmother was midwife and godmother to, of course she was a baby and doesnt remember anything but it is a nice link. I was also told by an old gentleman who knew the Farrell family that the minute he married Margaret ''he put the feet up'' Margaret died in 1929 of pneumonia and is buried in St Brigits churchyard in Cloakenny C. Tipperary. I have recently found the grave and have had it cleaned
