In 1749, a Lawrence Gormely & wife, servants (with 4 children under the age of 14) were recorded in the townland Carrowreagh, Kilcorkey just south east of the town of Bellanagare [Census of Elphin]. 

In 1777, a memorial to Lawrence Gormley (1711-1777) was erected at Kilcorkey cemetery.
