John Templeton : Short Biography

For family, John has become a brick wall in our family tree as while we have records for Ayrshire we have no Irish records of the family. Recently an army record has come to light for a John Templeton born Loughgilly Ireland with his occupation on enlisting as a weaver. Being in the 11th Regiment of foot might well explain why there is a huge gap between his eldest son Samuel born 1818 Ireland and the next born William in 1826 Ireland. He was probably of the Presbyterian faith which most of his children followed rather than Catholic.
