John was b. abt. 1845 in Aughavas per his age on US censuses. He was the son of Bartley Keegan & unknown.
On 12 Feb 1865 John & Mary Harrahan of Aughavas were married in St. Joseph's Church, Aughavas.
Their first 4 children was also baptised there:
- Elizabeth Mary 2 Dec 1865, townland of Corraneary
- Katherine Teresa 22 Apr 1868, townland of Corraneary
- Margaret Lorette 15 Nov 1870, townland of Corraneary
- John Joseph 10 Sep 1872, townland of Corraneary
Sometime between the birth of John Joseph & the birth of thier son Bartley aka Bartholomew in 1874 in the US, the family immigrated to the City of Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island
Once in RI, the family settled in the west end of Providence on the city line w/Crantson in a home on Burrington Ave. There, their last 2 children were born:

For reasons yet to be discovered, John left his family back in Providence & traveled to La Salle, La Salle Co, Illinois. Whatever the reason for john traveling to La Salle, he & his family were never to see each other again in their lifetimes.
Sometime in May 1879, John died while in La Salle. There are no records of his death other than the 1880 Providence City Directory that recorded John as having died in May 1879 & his burial record from St. Patrick's Cemetery in Providence which stated that he died in La Salle, IL at the age of 35y.
