"John Daniel Lyons was born in County of Limerick, Ireland May 1 1840. He went to Ontario County New York in 1852, where he found employment as a farmer and remained until 1856. In 1856 he relocated to Odell in Livingston County Illinois. He engaged in the saloon business, then worked for C.A. & St. L.R.R.Co as section foreman. In 1876 he established himself in his present business of confectioner in Odell, IL. He married Miss Elizabeth McGuire, of his native country on July 27, 1865. She was born April 24, 1847. "
