Jeremiah Hourigan was born about 1820 in Kerry, Ireland.
We know his family lived at one point in Ballyheige. His parents were James Hourigan and Catherine Moriarity. His siblings were Mary, Ellen, William, Honora and James. They lived by the pound and beside the blacksmith shop.
Jeremiah married Mary Cantillon. In 1840 they left Ireland for Canada. They settled in Dundas, Ontario where Jeremiah apprenticed as an axe maker. He eventually started his own factory which was in operation from 1859 to 1910. He and Mary had 12 children, James, Jeremiah, John, Catherine, Ann, Ellen, Michael, William, Mary, Anne, and Joseph. Jeremiah died on July 13, 1878 in Dundas, Ontario Canada.
