James Finneran & Eleanor Clarke of Carromore are recorded as baptising the following children in the RC parish of Croghan (aka Killucan) when parish records first began (the pattern suggests this was the end of their family):
Mary Finneran b. 1814
Catherine Finneran b. 1816
John Finneran b. 1826
They invited the following neighbors & relatives to godparent:
John Clarke, Mary Faghran (Togheron), Edward Clarke, Catherine May, John May (Farm 13a Carrowmore), Eleanor Taughran (Togheron), Thomas Clarke (Farm 7a Carrowmore), Mary Lynch.
This tells us that Eleanor Clarke's siblings were: Edward, John & Thomas Clarke.
And points to the townland of Carrowmore (parish of Killummod) as their place of origin (where many Finnerans, Clarkes, Toghran, and May families all co-resided). Their landlord was Richard O'Farrell Caddell.
In 1857, at the time of Griffith's Valuation John Finneran and Patrick Finneran (m. Elizabeth Timon) were recorded in the neibhbouring farms of 12a and 14a Carrowmore respectively (with John May & Mary Tansey between them at farm #13a).
In 1901 and 1911, Thomas Finneran (son of Patrick Finneran & Eliza Timon of Carrowmore) & Brigid Brien and family were recorded in Carrowmore. Edward Finneran (1838-1918) bachelor, was also recorded as living alone here at that time. Patrick Finneran his cousin was present when Edward died at home in 1918.
