Felix Morton: the first I know about Felix Morton is that he was born in about 1809 place unknown. He is first recorded in County Roscommon. Felix married a Mary (surname unknown) and they had at least one child Edward Morton born in 1831 Boyle, County Roscommon who is my great-grandfather. Edward emigrated to Victoria, Australia and eventually settled in the Otago area of the South Island, New Zealand where he served in the police force and is buried in Invercargill.
Tithe Applotment Books 1834 have Felix Morton on land at Cloonkilly (now possibly Cloontikilla), Ardcarne, Roscommon. The Irish Reproductive Loan Fund has Philix Morton as a guarantor No 2 of a loan, at Errirona, Roscommon in 1846. Then Felix Moreton applies for an Irish Poverty Relief Loan at Errirona, Ardcarne in 1847. In 1853 Phelix Morton is a defendant at a Petty Court Sessions at Cootehall, address and occupation given a Yeoman of Errerona, Ardcarn. Found guilty of having a pig wandering on the road!! The family appears to have been tenanted farmers at Lord Lorton's Estate during the famine years.
The nest information I have about Felix and Mary Morton is their death records with Felix's death appearing in the Ireland Civil Registration Indexes 1845-1958 and recorded as occurring in 1869 at Carrickamoss, Ireland. Mary's death is recorded as occurring in 1870on 14th September, 1870in Ballybay, Casteblayney, County Monaghan.
