Eliza Jane Devlin, born 12 October 1847 to James and Jane Hamilton Devlin. Married 1 December 1864 to Andrew Black in Newtown, Limavady, County Londonderry. Andrew born about 1840 and died 1872. 4 Children born Eliza and Andrew: Martha Edwards - 6 August 1865; William, b. 11 March 1867; John James b 23 April 1869, d. 18 Jun 1870 in Finlagan; James, b 8 Jan 1871. I believe Eliza and her 3 surviving children sailed to the US in 1872. Based on church records in the US, I believe they were Protestant. (we visited Dungiven in 2014 and were able to see some ministers' records about the Black family).
I am interested in Eliza's parents, especially James. With a common name of Devlin/Develin, it's quite difficult. James and Jane had 4 children that went to the US: Stewart b 1 Jan 1830 or 1833, possibly Carick or Largy; John J, b 23 March 1836; Eliza (above) and William, b 12 July 1850. All died in Pennsylvania, including Jane Hamilton Devlin who died in 1886 in Pennsylvania. All death records say "Ireland". I found Dungiven and Largy by poring over church minutes from the Upper Octarara Presbyterian Church and found Eliza's transfer noted from Largy.
Where do I try to find this family? Thank you in advance for your help!
Michelle
