What I know about Edward Hughes, comes from his obituary and a book "Washington County Maryland Cemetery Records" In the book it states -
Edward Hughes b. in Carrigeen, Longford Co. Ireland 15 May 1812 d. 13 Mar 1875
I also know Edward appears on the 1840 Washington County, Maryland census, it also indicated his daughter was born in ~1831~ in Pennslyvania.
The Griffith Valuation is carried out in 1854, The Tithe Applotment shows no Hughes' in Carrigeen, There are no census records, and according to the Longford Genealogy Centre and the National Library of Ireland
the church records do not begin until 1855.
I am looking for ideas, suggestions on other sources so I might find out more
