CORNELIUS O'BRIEN of Shanagolden Limerick arrived in Sydney Australia with his wife ELIZABETH nee McMAHON (Pound St. Co Clare) with 7 of their children on the vessel "Blundell" on 5 May 1853.  The arrival of the family is recorded in "Poverty to Promise" by Christopher O'Mahony & Valerie Thompson.  A sister of CORNELIUS was BRIDGET ADAMS (nee O'BRIEN) -married THOMAS ADAMS - and their brother JOHN O'BRIEN were living in the colonies when CORNELIUS and family arrived.

Research by the Limerick Regional Archives  reveal the Church Records for Shanagolden only date back to 1824 so it is possible that Anne (c: 1825) was not the eldest of the children. Cornelius and Elizabeth had lowered their age to emigrate as the cut-off age was 45.  The LRA records state a child; Anne was christened on 25 April 1825 and sponsers were Jeremiah O'Brian and Mary McMahon. Another 12 children were born to CORNELIUS and ELIZABETH and to emigrated they had to leave several of the older children behind.

Parents of CORNELIUS were listed as CORNELIUS and JOHANNA nee REDDY.  Parents of ELIZABETH WERE: Jas. McMAHON abd ALICE of Poun(t) Street Clare.

ELIZABETH gave birth to a baby girl and within days died on board the Blundell in Sydney Harbour.  CORNELIUS married MARY MOLONEY in 1854 and they had 4 children.  They lived in Queen's Place Sydney NSW.
