Catherine Collins is my great-grandmother. She travelled to England with my great-grandfather James Kennedy approximately 1849/1850, to escape poverty. However, upon arriving in London England, they soon found themselves in the workhouse. They spent to rest of their lives in and out of the workhouse. I believe they had numerous children, one of which was named Thomas Kennedy.
I also have been led to believe that when they died instead of being buried in the workhouse grounds which was usual the done thing, relatives were contacted and their bodies were collected.
