Catherine was born about 1835 in Ontario, Canada, and she married Edmond Kinney on 15 Jan 1856 in Madison, Wisconsin. Nothing is known of Catherine's parents or their origins in Ireland. The Kinney family (Kenny in Ireland) was from the Swinford area of County Mayo. After their marriage, Catherine and Edmond farmed for several years in Medina township in eastern Dane County, Wisconsin. In 1860, they and their two young sons moved to a plot of land in Martell on the Pierce-St Croix County border, near the "Hawkins Settlement" that his father Andrew Kenny had purchased. In 1865, shortly after Edmond returned from service in the Civil War, they moved down the road to a farm in Pleasant Valley, St Croix County. Edmond purchased land in Hudson township of St Croix County in 1877. Catherine passed away on 29 Jan 1891 in Hudson, Wisconsin, and Edmond died there as well on 22 Jun 1900.
