Bridget FOX was born 1 June 1841 in County Leitrim, Ireland. She emigrated to the United States in her youth [probably with relatives] and stayed for a time in New York, USA. About 1858 she moved to Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, Kansas Territory, USA. This was at the time of great upheaval in "Bleeding Kansas" prior to the Civil War.
For a while, Bridget found employment as a governess in the family of General Schofield at Fort Leavenworth.
About 1859 Bridget married Patrick A. DORAN, in Leavenworth. He was an emigrant to the United States from County Mayo, Ireland. They later had at least five children: Robert, John, Thomas, Ann, and Louise [later Mrs. A.C. Schwartz].
Mrs. Doran was reportedly "a most affectionate and loving wife and mother and highly esteemed by those who knew her."
Bridget (Fox) Doran died in her home at 110 Ottawa Street, Leavenworth, Kansas on 23 August 1896 after an illness of about two years. She was buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leavenworth.
