When Anne Theresa "Annie" King was born on December 11, 1901, in Dunmore, Galway, Ireland, her father, Owen, was 29, and her mother, Catherine Lowry King, was 32.
When asked about the Irish civil war, Anne King Fahey remembered the Black and Tans walking the streets of her town and shooting out windows. Everyone would have to duck down until they were gone.
Anne came to New York when she was about 20 years old. She met Michael John Fahey at a Galway dance in New York and married him on June 8, 1924, in Queens, New York. They lived in the Pelham Bay section of Bronx, New York, and their grandson still owns the house they lived in. They had four children during their marriage.Their son Joseph Francis was killed in World War II on December 20, 1944, in Wecker, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, at the age of 19.
Her husband Michael passed away on March 7, 1966, in Bronx, New York, at the age of 78. They had been married 41 years. She died on November 13, 1990, in Ridgewood, New Jersey, at the age of 88.
Her descendants all live in the United States in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
