Andrew Maxwell was born in 1837 in Drumlegagh, County Tyrone.
His father was Joseph Maxwell (b 1798) and his mother was Margaret McCay (b 1802).
Andrew emigrated to New Zealand in the mid-1860s and on 24 January1869 he married Margaret Walsh (born in Tuam, Galway around 1843).
They had eight children in 14 years and Andrew died on 26 May 1918 in Wellington having lived a long life of 81 years.
