My ancestors came from Tawnagh More, County Mayo. Tawnagh More is a small farming village \a couple miles north of Balla. My oldest known ancestor was Andrew Kenny (1786-1866). He was a tenant farmer in Tawnagh More. My 2nd great grandfather, Andrew Kenney (1831-1883) left Mayo in the 1850's and traveled to New York.
Any ancestor, Andrew Kenney, was born north of Balla, County Mayo - in a town called Tawnagh More around 1831. Our surname is spelled both Kenney and Kenny on various documents. His father may have also been named Andrew (1786-1866). Does any of this ring a bell with locals in the Balla area?
